It was only a few weeks ago that the nation honoured the re-internment of King Richard III. Now, at a ceremony, rather fittingly held at Leicester Cathedral, the King Richard III Visitor Centre has won an RIBA East Midlands Regional Award.

 

The award recognised the many facets that successfully came together through the collaboration of client, architect, contractor, archaeologist and the many design team members, to achieve this once in a lifetime project.

The centre, which has received a record number of visitors, includes the original grave of the ‘King in the car park’ and tells the history of King Richard’s life through to the modern day discovery of his remains.
