A key element of the mission focussed on sustainability. The UAE is now widely acknowledged as a global centre for the green and sustainable buildings sector, showcased by Abu Dhabi’s Masdar City, and is bringing in sustainability standards to all major projects. Qatar is introducing mandatory sustainability standards by 2010. Major Qatari developers such as Qatari Diar, Barwa and Doha Land are implementing green and sustainability standards in all their projects.
