This striking entrance is part of a new Media Centre located on Goldsmith Street in the heart of the Nottingham Trent University's city centre campus. The project includes state-of-the-art resources such as an 85 workstation newsroom - the largest student dedicated newsroom in the UK - three radio studios, two voice-over booths, a six camera TV studio and high speed laser newspaper printing facilities.

The concept was to create a foil for the present structure, as a contrast to, but also to complement, the mass of the original building. The entrance mirrors the angular form along Goldsmith Street of the existing construction. The new roof ‘hovers’ over the existing buildings to visually tie the new with the old, whilst the front creates a dramatic canopy over the entrance.

All the colours used within the exterior construction, as well as the interior design are part of an overall ‘brand’ that maber are developing with Nottingham Trent University to establish a strong identity across the city centre campus.

"This striking new Centre is a fantastic place for our students to learn all the skills they need for the industry, it’s bright, airy and just feels inspiring.”

Robin Staniforth, Director - Centre for Broadcast Journalism
