Gwilym’s unconventional path to the world of architecture offers a distinctive outlook on design that is not only thoughtful but accessible for all who use it.

Gwilym joined maber in 2024 while completing his BA in Architecture from Birmingham City University. He will continue his education at BCU as a Level 7 Architectural Apprentice for his Masters and Part III qualification.

Beginning the journey towards his architectural qualification later in life, Gwilym benefits from a breadth of experience gained working with design in various sectors, including Events, Education, Hi-Tech Manufacturing, and Food and Beverage. His experiences offer valuable insight into how spaces function practically and he understands operation workflows that will best fit client needs. Whether it be an industrial, education or residential project, it is second nature for Gwilym to consider and develop an inclusive, functional and user-friendly design.

After his climate studies in Liverpool, Gwilym has built a solid scientific foundation for his sustainability focus in architecture. He is able to confidently implement circular economy principles in his work, focusing on material reuse in urban environments. Gwilym is a member of StuCAN, which focuses on integrating important sustainability principles into architectural education, further highlighting his passion for projects with a robust sustainability agenda, whilst being a carbon-negative project champion.

Having also been a caregiver for his father, Gwilym has gained invaluable insight into how to create greater accessibility and increased user-friendliness within the built environment, which fuel his passion for inclusive design at any stage of a project. It is his personal belief and mission to focus on celebrating accessibility rather than merely accommodating it.
