The Building Safety Act 2022 (BSA) has introduced a significant culture shift in the property sector, aiming to improve building safety, assure compliance through design and occupation, and firmly hold those involved accountable.

One of the specific duties it places on Clients is the need to appoint a Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD). As the Architect and Lead Designer, maber is uniquely positioned to fulfill this role on projects where we are part of the design team. This directly aligns with the BSA’s mandate for the BRPD to be an influential and integrated member of the design team.

Our Commitment and Expertise

maber has fully embraced the new BSA regime through:

  • Commitment to offering BRPD services on all our projects, both new builds and existing buildings, including Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs).
  • Investment in organisational capability including procedures, systems and resources.
  • Accredited competencies – the skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours (SKEB) required by PAS 8671:2022.

Proven Track Record

Our capability is evidenced by significant achievements, including our successful Building Safety Act Gateway 2 Approval for a new-build residential development, marking the country’s first new-build HRB approval.

A Flexible Partner

We can undertake the BRPD duties directly for our Employer Clients and also offer BRPD Advisor services to Principal Contractor Clients, ensuring valuable continuity of knowledge and personnel across all design and construction phases.

Early Engagement

We strongly encourage the early engagement of the BRPD. This early partnership helps to effectively inform the project programme, define workstage deliverables, and shape the procurement strategy.
