maber attended the excellent FUTUREPROOF 2026 event at Broadway Cinema, Nottingham.

 

The inaugural event is a major new national forum designed to bring together the brightest minds and most ambitious organisations committed to building a greener future.

Headline Speakers included Our Executive Director, Tim Boxford and Associate, Ruzha Sirmanova who held a talk on ‘Becoming a B Corp™’, where they shared maber’s journey to achieving the certification and how this has impacted the practice as a business and as designers.

 

The talk also showcased how we incorporate sustainable strategies throughout our projects and how we’re building a more environmentally-responsible future.

Throughout the day, an array of core sustainability themes were discussed. This included East Midlands Combined County Authority plans to deliver green growth, the future of green buildings where a selection of industry experts discussed policy, practice and reality, and an interesting insight into the profit and economic growth from reuse and recycling from PwC.

 

The Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust used Paris as a case example of how nature can be put at the heart of our cities and there was an enlightening panel discussion surrounding circular economy. The Clean Rivers Trust also highlighted innovative methods in which nature can heal itself.

FUTUREPROOF 2026 was a necessary and important new event that gathered over 400 business leaders, academics, policymakers, innovators, and sustainability specialists for a day of insight, collaboration, and practical action.
