maber are celebrating International Women’s Week throughout our offices.

This year we are aiming to raise awareness of issues related to equality, equity, and human rights by promoting two organisations helping women in need.

In addition, maber pledges to match all proceeds and donate an equal amount towards women’s education and professional training in Kyrgyzstan. For more information on both organisations we have selected, please keep reading below.

To encourage proceeds, we are holding a week-long bake marathon in our offices in Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham and London. Visitors and staff are invited to participate in the baking, tasting and judging of donated baked goods.

The charities we selected are close to our team members:

ProKG

maber is a diverse team of active individuals pioneering multiple social value and inclusivity initiatives. During this year’s International Women’s Week, maber is proud to support this organisation and their project ‘Eneler-Maria’ which is a beautiful initiative to help upskill women and mothers in rural areas of the country on professional and personal levels.

For a few years now, Sara has been a mentor and member of the ProKG, an education-focused charity based in the Kyrgyz Republic.

“The power of women and mothers is truly wonderful, and it is heartbreaking to see and witness inequality, violence, and restricted opportunities that women face in the 21st century.

Access to information, resources, and education is the key to tackling global matters of equality, equity, and human rights that ultimately affect us all. Together, we aim to raise awareness and make a difference for women and communities all around the world.”

This charity is personal to our colleague Ruzha:

Growing up I discovered I have PCOS, a chronic condition which affects many aspects of my life, but in the medical profession is seen through the lens of having (ir)regular cycles. Having spent much of my life learning and talking about feminine health to improve my own wellbeing, made me especially passionate about menstrual equity and the rights of all women and people who bleed, so that no one is held back by their period.

Two years ago I worked with the maber management team to ensure our offices are period positive spaces, offering free and sustainable sanitary products for our staff and visitors. Supporting Bloody Good Period and talking about society’s perception of the menstruating body this International Women’s Day will hopefully take us one step closer to bridging the gender gap and ending period poverty.”
