Barker Gate Rest Garden is a lovely little park in the heart of Nottingham’s historic Lace Market, and it’s set for a revamp thanks to Nottingham City Women’s Institute.

The City WI have secured funding from the Government’s Pocket Park scheme to improve and enhance the park. maber‘s landscape architecture team are helping the WI by providing planting plans and advice.

The garden will have a section dedicated to wild flowers, nesting boxes and a wildlife hotel. The City WI are members of the Nottingham Bee Forum, so our planting plans include bee-friendly plants to give year round support to Nottingham’s urban bee population.

The scheme also includes improvements to footpaths and our friends from the local construction company Clegg Construction, have joined in to support this project, which commenced this week.
