The site comprised two Grade II Listed 3-storey and 5-storey buildings that date back to the late nineteenth century.  The outside of the buildings, which are fine examples of Victorian mill architecture, have remained relatively unchanged over the years.  They still retain nearly all of the original cast iron windows and have seen very few external alterations.

The redevelopment has seen the street elevations largely unchanged whilst inside more than 250 high quality student bedrooms and 60 apartments have been created.

The Employer Client was Watkin Jones & Sons.

In the larger of the two buildings, the student accommodation is arranged in units of 4-6 bedrooms with shared kitchens and communal facilities to cater for different student requirements.

The three storey building provides 24 one-bed and 36 two-bed contemporary apartments. These are built to a high standard with modern quality kitchens and large living spaces.

The internal courtyard is a strong focus for the scheme and provides secure access to the buildings.  It is paved to create an attractive street type space with raised planting and seating areas that can be enjoyed by the residents together.
