The new centre provides enhanced facilities for the local community, in the heart of the town, promoting health and leisure opportunities for all. The development also makes the most of the centre’s stunning riverside setting and views.

The scheme has seen the improvement of existing core facilities for swimming, sport, fitness and other activities, and the provision of new fitness, social and children’s play facilities.

The main entrance is marked by a bold copper wall and glazed entrance area leading onto new cafeteria, play area, creche and multi-function rooms. A new function room opens on to a riverside terrace with seating under a cantilevered canopy.

The existing six lane pool and learner pool have been refurbished and complemented by a new village, group changing facilities, plus a new viewing balcony for spectators.

New dry changing areas are provided for the sports hall and squash courts, and a 60 station fitness suite with weights area, physiotherapy zone and a multi function studio overlook the riverside.
