Responding to these requirements, the design has been developed creating inward-looking accommodation combined with a robust wall to the perimeter of the building which also aids visitor orientation to the building entrance.

All patient and clinical areas are proposed on the ground floor to aid efficiency and ease of orientation whilst ensuring functionality between the Nursing Suite and Consulting Suite.

The majority of staff and administrative accommodation has been located at first floor level to; simplify security within the building, enforce the concept of patient / staff separation, and reduce circulation for staff movements.

The building’s positioning on the site is important to the organisation of accommodation. However, being located towards the Queensway boundary of the site affords added prominence to the development – especially when combined with the natural topography of the site.
