The new two storey building will replace two outdated existing buildings that are earmarked for demolition.  It will be located on the same site and temporary accommodation will ensure continuity of facilities for the school during the build process.  The Locally Listed Moat Building will be retained and refurbished too.

The design had to navigate a number of complexities.  Located on a tight site, on a flood plain and in a conservation area.  Flood data from the LLFA was updated and revised during the design process which led to significant changes in external levels across the site.  Our team effectively addressed the challenges and were able to integrate a far superior external space, with a level hard play area for the pupils to enjoy.

The redevelopment also encompasses a wonderfully increased woodland area, improved external accessibility around the site, new accessible parking spaces and extra cycle spaces and shelters have been included.

With sustainable features, including a green roof, the new building will help to tackle climate change through minimising energy demand and using low carbon and renewable energy solutions. Solar panels are also proposed on the roof.  The project has a goal of achieving Net Zero Carbon in Operation and the green roof will contribute to achieving biodiversity net gain.

The internal layout of the new building has been designed to meet the very specific needs of the school. The improved accommodation will provide classrooms, a hall, library, kitchen, and specialist learning and support spaces.
