The five sites offered challenging constraints in respect of size, access and existing utilities. maber were able to advise the client as to the likely impacts these constraints would have during the development programme, aiding the process of securing HCA funding.
The framework procurement of the contractor and design team created a condensed design development period once funding had been secured, due to the omission of the tender stage. maber were required to use their social housing expertise to guide the contractor and client through the various requirements of the HCA funding, ensuring efficient selection of methods to meet the Code for Sustainable Homes targets.
The houses were a mix of styles of 2 bedroom bungalows and 3 bedroom two-storey houses, including a fully wheelchair accessible unit.
